Question for you: have you done your Christmas shopping yet? We all want to find the perfect Christmas gifts for those special people in our lives. We want it to be meaningful, functional, and inspiring. As a creative, I would venture to say that it is sometimes hardest to buy gifts for fellow artists. We want something that is unique and also meaningful.

Whether you are looking to shop for fellow dancers, dance instructor friends, or dance coaches, you need something special and applicable.

Fear not. I have numerous functional yet meaningful gift ideas for you this year.

What Box?

Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner (Or in a Box, If You Will)

Have you ever put yourself in a box? When you’re a creative surrounded by people and situations that, well, maybe aren’t so creative, the temptation to try and adjust so that you fit better within the expectations of others is strong.

But it’s like Martha Graham famously said: “You are unique, and if that is not fulfilled, then something has been lost.”

The idea of allowing ourselves to be confined by boxes that make sense to other people or ensure they are comfortable stifles so much of our lives: our creativity, our authenticity, and, ultimately, what we have to contribute to the world.

It just so happened that the view of Shea Quinn of the amazing Grow With Shea Podcast completely aligned with my own feelings about this whole “box” thing. (Shea is absolutely incredible and so is her podcast. Follow her here on Instagram). The idea of “boxes” opened up an amazing conversation and a great opportunity to collaborate together as we created our design. As you can see, three sides of the box are intact while the top portion is missing. The words “What Box?” are sneaking out, a representation of what it can feel like when we completely remove the need to limit and edit ourselves. It’s time to be the authentic creators God made us to be.

What Box have you been tempted to fit into?

Uniquely Inspired

The following verse is one that blew my mind when I first read it. It serves as such a beautiful reminder that artistic work is a calling and created by the Great Artist Himself:

“…and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills to make artistic designs for work…”
~Exodus 31:3-4

Without further ado, lets take a look at these message-bearing Christmas gifts we have available for the dancers in your life. Whether you want to encourage that fellow salsa dancing friend of yours or a hard-working dance teacher who owns a place in your heart, we’ve got something waiting.

1. T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, Crop Tops, Oh My!

Dancers spend so much time moving. Each one deserves to love the clothes in which they practice the art they adore. Check out the numerous design options available in order to find the perfect apparel for the dancer in your life.

2. Water Bottles/ Coffee Mugs

Keep the beloved dancers in your life both hydrated and caffeinated with these fantastically portable options for artists on the go.

3. Dance Bag

Every dancer needs a good, old fashioned duffle. I just took this one with me to two congresses on back-to-back weekends and let me tell you, it passed the test. Not only is it great quality and held a TON, but it was the perfect size to pass as a carry-on.

4. Accessories, anyone?

Dancers have to have their accessories. Need a shoe bag that’ll remind your beloved dancer just how unique he/she is every time the dance shoes go on? Here it is!

Also, for social dancers, the fanny pack for keeping keys, ID, breath mints, and hand sanitizer close at hand are becoming increasingly popular.

5. Men’s Apparel

Check out these amazing options for the guys! From tanks to moisture wicking t-shirts, you’re sure to find something for that incredible dancing man in your life.

Thank you for taking the time to consider the “What Box?” merch as Christmas gifts for the creatives in your life.

Amazon Picks (great for gift bags or stocking stuffers!)

1. Samnyte Hair Finishing Stick

Tired of chasing down those stubborn, stray baby hairs? This finishing stick is amazing! It gets those little fly aways that not even gel and hairspray can conquer for a smooth and professional look. They make great Christmas gifts.

2. Rimmel London Provocalips 16hr Kiss-Proof Lip Color

Tired of having to touch up your lipstick or seeing faded lips in photos or on stage? This stuff solves the problem. I eat, drink, sweat, all of it and this stuff doesn’t come off! (Wondering how to get it off? I just found the best make-up remover wipe that gets this lipstick off no problem even when nothing else will).

3. Lume

They say honest sweat doesn’t stink… I beg to differ. Personally, I LOVE the invisible cream for my feet and the deodorant wipes for a quick clean up for my armpits. I have also recently become a fan of the body wash.
